Coolant pipe failure is a common issue on Porsche GT1-block engines. The factory pipes are bonded with adhesive that degrades over time, leading to leaks or sudden failure. BBI Autosport provides a permanent fix by welding in our BBI Billet Coolant Pipe Kit, made from high-quality aluminum.
Service Includes:
- Removal of factory pipe fittings and adhesive
- Ultrasonic cleaning and surface preparation
- TIG welding of the BBI Billet Coolant Pipe Kit
- Pressure testing after welding to ensure no leakage
Our billet aluminum fittings are engineered for clean, consistent welds. Unlike pinning—which still relies on aging adhesive—welding provides a true mechanical solution. Improper prep or welding without testing can result in pinhole leaks; our process eliminates that risk.
Engine Removal Option:
For local cleints, we offer full engine removal and reinstallation at our Southern California facility. Contact sales@bbiautosport.com for scheduling and quotes.
For Shops & Dealers:
We work directly with Porsche repair shops and dealerships. Preferred pricing is available for service centers—email us to coordinate or get set up.
Disclaimer: This is a service-only offering. The OEM coolant pipe housings are not included. Customers must ship their housings to BBI Autosport for this service. We do not offer a core exchange program.
Turnaround Time: Typical turnaround is 1–2 weeks from when we receive your housings. Timing may vary depending on our current workload. If you have specific time requirements, please confirm availability with us before shipping.

Coolant Pipe
Welding Service.
The Mezger engine — found in the 996 Turbo, GT2, and GT3 — is one of the greatest performance engines Porsche ever built. But it carries a well-documented factory weakness: plastic coolant pipe fittings that become brittle with age and heat cycling, and fail without warning.
When they go, the result is catastrophic coolant loss — and a engine that cannot be saved. This is not a matter of if. It is a matter of when.
This is a preventative service. Factory plastic fittings on the Mezger coolant system are a known failure point. BBI's billet solution eliminates the risk entirely — before it becomes a catastrophic and irreversible failure.
BBI's solution is a set of precision billet machined coolant pipe fittings, permanently welded in place by our in-house fabrication team. No plastic. No clamps. No compromises. This is the only permanent fix for the Mezger coolant pipe failure point.
BBI works extensively with Porsche dealers and independent workshops worldwide. If your car is with a trusted shop anywhere in the world, we can work directly with them on the send-in process. Contact us and we will coordinate the rest.
The engine is removed to provide full access to the coolant pipe system. No shortcuts.
Original plastic coolant pipe fittings are removed entirely from the system.
Precision billet aluminium fittings are permanently TIG welded into the coolant pipes by our in-house fabrication team.
The system is pressure tested before the engine is reinstalled and the car returned to service.
